My 3-year-old is great to invent games that makes me almost to fall asleep. The problem is not that the game is booring etc. but when I'm tired in the morning it's easy to make me feel even more tired.
1. "There's a monster coming! Let's hide!"... yeap! Let's lay down on the floor and hide under the blankets. Somedays she even gives me a pillow. To me this sounds like "Let's go to sleep", hah.
2. "I'm a doctor, I have to fix you"... Playing doctor, and being the patient is okay, no problems.. but after "I have to fix you" the next sentence is "You have to lay down on the floor".. nice, eh? Again, laying down on anything when I'm tired makes me feel sleepy too.
3. "I'm tired, sleep with me!" Well.. she's not allowed to take a nap before lunch-time so, she's not falling asleep, I have to take care of that and at the same time take care that I'm not sleeping.
4. "Read me a book" Many times I feel that I'm reading a bedtime story to myself when it's her nap time and she is just full of energy.
5. Sometimes, when she is making puzzles, reading (watching pictures) or colouring and don't want me to disturbe her, I feel sleepy.. just because she is sitting on my lap and I have nothing to do because I can't move (she's crying if I try).
Yeap, being an au pair is hard, isn't it?
